چکیده
Background/Aim: Curing local recurrence of rectal cancer (LRRC) is difficult with conventional photon radiotherapy. Proton beam therapy (PBT) on the other hand, has unique physical characteristics that permit higher doses to LRRC while minimizing side effects surrounding organs. However, efficacy PBT controlling not yet been reported. This study aimed evaluate clinical outcomes and toxicities for LRRC. Patients Methods: Clinical were retrospectively evaluated 12 patients 13 total lesions had received at our institute. Results: The median follow-up period from initiation was 42.9 months. 3-year control, progression-free survival overall rates 80.2%, 12.1% 71.3%, respectively. Median time 67.1 There no severe acute or late adverse events. Conclusion: could be a safe effective treatment method

The treatment options for prostate cancer include prostatectomy, external-beam irradiation, brachytherapy, cryosurgery, focused ultrasound, hormonal therapy, watchful waiting, and various combinations of these modalities. Because the prostate abuts the bladder and rectum, the dose distributions of external-beam irradiations and the accuracy of their placement play crucial roles in the probabili...

OBJECTIVES Local recurrence of rectal cancer reduces quality of life and survival. A multi-factorial linear logistic model was used to analyse risk factors for local recurrence in rectal cancer in patients not receiving preoperative chemo-radiation. METHODS A case-control study of patients with rectal cancer having surgery with curative intent, between 1996 and 2008. Eighteen putative risk fa...

UNLABELLED Infectious complications and their consequences are still key issues in rectal cancer surgery. Currently, intravenous antibiotic administration is a recognized method for lowering the rate of these complications. The aim of the study was to assess the efficacy of complementary application of a gentamicin-impregnated sponge in the perineal wound or in the vicinity of intestinal anasto...
